At the Beginning

Yes, I know that using the title of our song is SO original, but as all of us know, it holds so much meaning for all of us. So, as I, like the rest of you, begin our lives as real people doing real things, I thought this would be the perfect time to start writing down my life. Not that my life is anything interesting, but this is easier than writing in a diary and it's all saved in one place.

Here I am, 8 hours away from starting my first day as a second year prop carpentry apprentice with the Santa Fe Opera. Thanks to the NATO summit, getting out here from Chicago was not a great adventure. Everybody and their mother apparently wanted out of O'Hare Airport at the exact same time that I wanted out. Sitting in traffic for two hours is not fun unless you provide me with a movie or other types of distractions. Fun fact, it takes the airport at least 40 minutes to put a checked bag onto a plane. Lesson learned. Needless to say, I missed my flight but the ladies at American Airlines very kindly put me on a flight to Dallas with a connection to Albuquerque. I would have only been 5 hours late if the baggage handlers had put my bag on the same flight that I was on. So, I'll just be pants-less for the next couple of days. It'll be great.

Nothing has changed in Santa Fe other than there is no more construction on Cerillios. Even the Borders store is still there, sign and all, minus all the books.

I'm in a triple at the Axton Apartments. I have my own room. Haha, suckers.
